The 2008 New York Jets saw the arrival of Hall of Fame shoe in Brett Favre and also saw RB Thomas Jones rush for his best ever season as he rushed for 1,312 yards and 13 touchdowns as well as 207 yard and 2 touchdowns. The jets were impressive and had a league high seven pro bowl players. The Jets finished with a 9-7 record and were out of contention for a playoff run. Head coach Eric Mangini was fired on December 29, 2008 with a record of 23-25.
In mid January, the Jets hired former Baltimore Raven Defensive Coordinator Rex Ryan to a four-year deal and less than a month later, Favre announce his retirement from football. Other big name signings in the off season were linebacker Bart Scott, safety Jim Leonhard as well as signing Lito Sheppard. In the draft, the Jets picked USC QB Mark Sanchez with the fifth pick of the draft as well as trading up to pick Iowa RB Shonn Greene. Look for the Jets to pick it up this season and make sure you get your tickets early as the New York Jets march to the playoffs. |
