2009 Season

The 2008 New York Jets  saw the arrival of Hall of Fame shoe in Brett Favre and also saw RB Thomas Jones rush for his best ever season as he rushed for 1,312 yards and 13 touchdowns as well as 207 yard and 2 touchdowns.  The jets were impressive and had a league high seven pro bowl players.  The Jets finished with a 9-7 record and were out of contention for a playoff run.  Head coach Eric Mangini was fired on December 29, 2008 with a record of 23-25.

In mid January, the Jets hired former Baltimore Raven Defensive Coordinator Rex Ryan to a four-year deal and less than a month later, Favre announce his retirement from football.  Other big name signings in the off season were linebacker Bart Scott, safety Jim Leonhard as well as signing Lito Sheppard.  In the draft, the Jets picked USC QB Mark Sanchez with the fifth pick of the draft as well as trading up to pick Iowa RB Shonn Greene.  Look for the Jets to pick it up this season and make sure you get your tickets early as the New York Jets march to the playoffs.

2008 Season

With a disappointing 4-12 losing record last year, the New York Jets look to rebound and bring themselves back into Super Bowl contention for this 2008 season.  The Jets have recently acquired superstar Pro Bowl veteran Brett Favre in a trade with the Green Bay Packers.  The arrival of Favre, who originally had decided on retirement, will certainly bring the New York Jets into playoff contention almost overnight as speculation about the famed quarterback is at its highest.  The New York Jets will certainly be the team to beat this season, especially with one of the best quarterbacks ever to play in the NFL now at the reigns.  Fans are purchasing tickets fast to see this superstar quarterback try to take them all the way to Super Bowl glory.

Due to the New York Jets' close vicinity to LaGuardia airport when the Jets were started in 1960, they were given the name "Jets" which happened to also rhyme with the name of the New York Mets with whom they shared Shea Stadium at the time.  The Jets originally began as a charter team in the National Football League under the name "New York Titans" until the name was changed in 1963. The New York Jets have had the luck of playing some incredible football players in their almost 50 years in the NFL including six Hall-of-Famers.  That list includes legendary quarterback Joe Namath and wide receiver Don Maynard.  The Jets' victorious franchise history include such achievements as twelve playoff appearances, four division titles, three league championship games, and a Super Bowl Championship.  After beginning their franchise play at the Polo Grounds and sharing Shea Stadium with the New York Mets, the New York Jets played at Giants Stadium since 1984 sharing with the New York Giants, until they will move to the Meadowland stadium this 2010 Season.
